These terms & conditions set out the basis on which you can visit and use our website. Please read them carefully as they contain important information and by using the site you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions
Terms & Conditions
Please read the sections below, which will tell you what will happen at each stage of your order.
- Once you have confirmed your order you will receive an email to confirm receipt of your order
- Within five days of confirming your order we will send you a further email to confirm that we can fulfil all of your order in its entirety.
- Cancellations, amendments & returns - please inform us as soon as possible if you realise that you need to amend your order. Call us on UK Free Phone no 0800 980 4010 or Overseas non Free Phone +44 (0) 131 220 2493. Alternatively email sales@hectorrussell.com and one of our advisors will assist you. If you amend your order, you may find there are changes to your delivery timescale and/or the price that you pay for the item, if payment is in local currency. You will be charged the current local currency equivalent selling price on the day you amend the order.
- If you wish to cancel or change your order after your order has been despatched, Hector Russell reserves the right to recover the costs of that delivery. This will be confirmed with you at the time of cancellation.
- Once you have taken delivery of your order, you have a legal right to cancel your order within 7 days with the exception of made to measure kilt products.
- You will be charged for the delivery of product(s) and this will be shown separately on the billing page of the site when you complete your order.
- As your kilt outfit is made to measure we cannot accept any returns unless the goods are faulty in which case we will replace the faulty item.
- All items returned must be in a saleable condition.
- Should you request to amend or cancel your made to measure kilt prior to despatch, a cancellation charge of up to a maximum of 50% of the kilt cost may apply.
Payment
- Payments may be made in sterling or your local currency.
- All credit card payments are processed when you place your order, due to the nature of made to measure kilts and other specific products.
- Local currency payment rates for unchanged orders will be held at the sterling and local currency equivalent using the appropriate foreign exchange rate for up to five days while the authorisation of your credit card payment and confirmation of the fulfilment of your order takes place.
- Local currency payments, where the original order is amended will be processed at the same foreign exchange rate as the original order submitted, as long the authorisation of your credit card and confirmation of the fulfilment of your order is completed within five days.
- Where an order cannot be fulfilled in full and you have confirmed that you wish to progress the amended order, then the original value of the order will be charged to your credit card and a refund for the difference will be processed shortly thereafter.
- Such refunds may not appear on the same statement as the original order due to the processing of such refunds taking up to fourteen days. Where refunded in local currency, the refund value may also be different due to the likelihood of a different foreign exchange rate being applied on the date that the refund transaction takes place.
- Due to the nature of made to measure products your order may take up to eight weeks to despatch following payment.
Hector Russell utilise the latest in Secure Server Technology to ensure that all personal and transactional information is protected to the highest standards.
Payments, Refunds and Exchanges
Should you wish to return a perfect item you have purchased for exchange or refund, please send back the item within 28 days of receipt, unworn and in its original packaging including all labels and proof of purchase, with postage fully paid.
All returns should be sent via the post office or courier of your choice. The customer is responsible for the cost of returning goods unless this is due to a manufacturing fault. We cannot accept liability for any goods posted by customer's that are lost or damaged in transit. Always obtain proof of postage when returning goods.
Faulty goods, produced with proof of purchase may be refunded or exchanged up to 3 months following the date of purchase.
When returning purchases please ensure that you complete the exchange/refund form in full.
It is Company Policy to process any refund using the same method of payment in which the purchase was made. Where a credit or debit card was used for payment, a refund can only be processed on the actual card that was used during the original transaction and to the person who actually bought the item.
There is no legal requirement to exchange or refund goods that are in perfect condition. Refunds and exchanges are given at the discretion of the Company.
Your statutory rights are not affected.
Made to measure kilts cannot be exchanged or a refund provided unless the garment is faulty. If faulty please return with a description of the fault and we will endeavour to correct the fault or replace the garment, including a refund of postal costs, as soon as reasonably practical.

Delivery Company
All orders under 2000 grams (2kg) will be delivered by Royal Mail, packages over 2000 grams will be delivered by Parcel Force.
Delivery Arrangements
Once Hector Russell has received your order, we will send you a confirmation email to notify you that the package has arrived in store and that it will be dispatched to you shortly. Orders will be delivered to your door. Packages that are valued over £50 will require a signature upon receipt.
What happens if no one is available to take the package on the day of delivery?

Delays
Occasionally, delivery of your order may be delayed or postponed. We will, of course, make every effort to keep you informed of any revised delivery timescales.
Taxes
When placing any order outside the European Union (EU) we normally do not charge our local taxes provided the goods are directly despatched to an address outside the EU. This is subject to the specific country to which the order is being despatched.
Your goods may be subject to customs fees and import duties of the country to which your order has been shipped. These charges (and any additional charges for customs clearance), are levied once the goods reach their destination and must always be borne by the recipient of the shipment.
Goods
You are responsible for ensuring that the goods can be lawfully imported into the destination country. When placing an order the recipient is the importer of the goods and must comply with all laws and regulations of the destination country.

Your product is supported by a Hector Russell guarantee. Please ensure all Hector Russell products are cleaned according to the product care instructions. Ordering errors
Your order can be changed at any stage before payment. If you wish to view the items in your basket and amend your order, click on the product descriptions link.
Acknowledgment and acceptance of your order
We will notify you by email as soon as possible to confirm receipt of your order and email you again to confirm details. Our acceptance of your order will take place upon despatch of the product(s) ordered.
Delays
Occasionally, the manufacture of your Kilt Package may be delayed. This can be for various reasons such as fabric delays or material shortages, we will, of course, make every effort to keep you informed as soon as possible if this situation arises.
Cancellation right
Under the distance selling regulations you have the legal right to cancel your order within seven working days of receipt of the goods (with the exception of made to measure kilt outfits). Where goods are delivered to a third party (e.g. through our Gift Registry service) you will only be able to exercise this right if you personally are able to return the goods you ordered. For details of how to exercise this right please see the Payments/Refunds section.
Restrictions on purchase
Where the order contains age restricted or other restricted items by placing the order you confirm that you are in compliance with the relevant law or regulation, for example:
a. Knives or bladed articles, or liqueur chocolates, by placing an order you confirm that you are over the age of 16.
b. Alcohol, by placing an order you confirm that you or the recipient of an alcoholic gift are over the age of 18.

We have placed links on this website to other websites which we think you may want to visit. We do not vet these websites and do not have any control over their contents. The Edinburgh Woollen Mill Ltd cannot accept any liability in respect of the use of these websites.
